Martha and Vahid Khadem-Missagh, two brilliant young violinists from Vienna, performed in three Greek cities during the month of February. The first concert was held in Kalamaria/Thessaloniki in collaboration with Amnesty International and 'Arsis', an organisation for the social support of disadvantaged youth. The Bahá'ís were mentioned in several newspaper articles and in an interview broadcast on the national television channel ERT3.

The second concert was held in Patras in honour of the 50th Anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights. The role of the Bahá'ís was mentioned in relation to human rights.

The last concert was in Iraklion, Crete in the presence of the Vice-Prefect of the city and in collaboration with the Institution for Disabled Children.

Two Schools in Ireland Close for Bahá'í Holy Days

Two multi-denominational national schools, the Limerick School Project and the Cork School Project, both close each year for one Bahá'í Holy Day.

Since the Limerick school first opened in 1989, it has always closed on 12th November for the Birth of Bahá'u'lláh, and 12th November is known as Bahá'í Day on the school calendar. In Cork, it is a different Holy Day each year; for example, in 1997 and 1998, it was during the Ridván Festival.

In both schools, prior to the Holy Day closure, the Bahá'í parents are invited to speak to each class about the Faith.

Bahá'í Women in 75th Anniversary of Turkish Republic

Bahá'í women in Adana participated in various events commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Turkish Republic, and had a representative on the City Council's Organising Committee which coordinated activities. On 29th October, a national holiday, a parade was sponsored by the Adana United Women's Committee.

Bahá'ís carried placards in their matching outfits which drew enthusiastic applause. On 31st October, the Bahá'ís took part in a meeting of all women's groups and associations. The gathering featured the displaying and selling of wares made by rural women and women prisoners, with all proceeds going to the Adana Fund. The Bahá'í women sold homemade food and hand-made items, and Turkish folk music was performed by a Bahá'í friend. Bahá'í information cards were distributed to at least 2,000 people and more than 1,000 posters were affixed to windows all over town.
