Blessings from God or Luck?
In conversation with Bahá’ís and people in general, there is a distinct preference of old and young alike, to attribute success of any kind to one being "lucky". In order to demonstrate the folly of such actions let me please acquaint you of a delightful happenstance; The great golfer, Sam Snead, was once caught at the practice range, by a young sports reporter.
R. Hi Sam, what are you doing? S. Hitting this 7 Iron 150 & 155 yards. R. That’s not a bad spread! S. I’m not spreading them, I’m hitting the 1st one 150 and the 2nd 155 yards. R. Yeah, I’m sure ! Nobody can do that! Sam hits the next shot 150 yards and the next 155. R. That was lucky ! S. Yeah! it’s quite amazing, the more you practice, the luckier you get! Denis Waitely, famed US author and public speaker, sums up LUCK as Labour Under Correct Knowledge! In this Great Day, let us stand apart from the general mass of the population and all make a conscious effort to rid the term from our vocabularies and instead, in utmost humility and sincere thankfulness, give credit to Him from Whom ALL blessings and bounties come.
