LETTERS TO THE JOURNAL

"Connect" website connection

"Connect", the website that was set up to enable Bahá'ís from all over the world to make that all-important first contact with others looking for a partner, is pleased to announce that it has it's first not one, but two, weddings planned by friends who found each other in this way!

At present there are nearly forty entries posted by friends from all over the world on the male and female e-partners lists, and daily people are reading their entries and deciding to make that first  contact with a few details about themselves.

Who is deciding to post an entry to Connect? - People from all over the world and all backgrounds.

In their posted entries they talk about themselves; their interests, hopes and aspirations. They talk about what they would like to find in a partner and almost everything except appearance, which is a condition of all posted entries. Your e-mail address is not used and, as you can also choose not to use your own name, confidentiality is assured. After that first contact has been made you can choose whether or not you wish to reply directly  to that person and begin a correspondance.  It was in this way that our first two couples made that first contact, and are now each planning a wedding!

If you're wondering whether this sort of thing is for you it's for ordinary people who happen to be looking for someone to share their lives with.

So why not log on, or nip round to a friend with a computer or buy that PC you've been promising yourself and see what's happening on Connect. You never know, it might make all the difference.

Thank you

The family of Joe Foster would like to thank everyone for their prayers during our sad loss. We have been comforted and sustained by the out-pouring of love and kindness shown to us. Please remember us in your prayers.

Beaker success!

I would like to thank the Journal Editor and Chris Hallam from Bradford for two special baby cups called Teacher Beakers which we have been searching for over a period of years for our handicapped daughter Emma.

The Bahá'í Journal succeeded where appeals to the local paper and radio, a national newspaper, Woman's Own and the Lady magazine had all failed. The day the cups arrived Mike and I were excited like two children winning a prize.

Thanks for publicising our need and thank you Chris for responding. If there is anyone else who possibly has one, we would be very happy to receive it. The local fund has also benefited with the arrival of the cups as I was not allowed to send any money for them.
