Delhi residents plead for world peace

About two-and-a-half thousand people formed a human chain in the Indian capital, New Delhi today, to plead for world peace in the new millennium.

The participants, including professionals, women activists and school and college students, held hands to form a gigantic chain from the India Gate, a military monument in central New Delhi, to an adjoining boulevard.

The event was organised by a womens' group and members of the Bahai faith.
