MILLENNIUM FORUM AT THE UNITED NATIONS

On Monday 22 May 2000, the Baha'i International Community's Principal Representative to the United Nations, Mr. Techeste Ahderom, made a speech in the United Nations General Assembly hall in the opening session of The Millennium Forum. Scheduled for 22-26 May at the United Nations in New York, the Millennium Forum has brought together more than 1,000 representatives of worldwide civil society, from more than 100 countries, in an effort to discuss how best to help the United Nations confront the challenges of the 21st Century.

The opening speeches were broadcast live on the World Wide Web and were also shown as a live videoconference in five cities: Buenos Aires, Chicago, Geneva, Nairobi, and Vienna. The closing speech on Friday, May 26 will be broadcast as well. For those interested in watching the webcast of Forum events, they need only to have an Internet capable computer with a web browser that uses one of the commonly available streaming media players.
