Charity dinner

THE Bangsar Rotaract Club recently invited Rotaractors throughout Malaysia to a grand feast at a leading Kuala Lumpur hotel to raise funds for the needy.

Club spokesman G. Jeyalatha said the International Understanding Night was held at Mingcourt Vista Hotel in Jalan Ampang on April 15.

It was attended by 200 people from Rotaractors.

Among guests for the evening were Rotary International District 3300 Governor Datuk Jaffar Mohd Ali and his wife Datin Juriah Ali, and Bangsar district Rotaract chairman K. Somasundram.

Jeyalatha said the dinner was also attended by children from Rumah Hope and members of the Malaysian Bahai Association.

The Rumah Hope children and youths from the association performed songs and sketches on the themes of global peace and national unity.

Tickets were priced at RM50 each.

Jeyalatha said representatives from the Fiji Rotaract Club were also present.

They were Sulochna Rishi, Farida Sahib and Reshmi Singh.

"The dinner was a celebration of World Rotaract Day. We jointly organised it with the Kelana Jaya Rotaract Club," Jeyalatha said.

The club also organised a blood donation drive in March at the Sogo shopping centre in Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman.

Held from 9am to 6pm, 100 people from all over the Klang Valley donated blood.

The campaign was to help government hospitals top up their blood banks.
