Baha'i Faith Celebrates The Oneness Of Humanity With Race Unity Day

Members of the Baha'i faith here will celebrate "Race Unity Day" from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Soulard Park Pavilion, located next to Soulard Farmers Market at South Broadway and Carroll Street. The day celebrates the oneness of humanity with unity-themed activities for the family and live performances from different cultures, including the Brazilian percussion group Joia, rock group Planet 9, folk music group Legacy and West African drummer and storyteller Blake Travis. The faith, which views racial prejudice as one of the most pressing issues in this country, teaches the principles of racial equality and unity. The Baha'i movement considers racism one of the major barriers to peace and has celebrated Race Unity Day since 1957. For information, call the Baha'i Information Center at 314-963-1415.
