LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
All faiths yearn for peace and justice
To the editor:
This is a special time of year for many faiths. The Baha'i faith observed
the birth of Baha'u'llah on Nov. 12; Islam began the holy month of Ramadan
on Nov. 28; the Jewish faith begins Hanukkah, the festival of lights on
Dec. 21; and the Christian faith observes the birth of Christ on Dec. 25.
To celebrate this season of joy and consecration, the Mahomet Baha'is
would like to share the Golden Rule as expressed in the sacred writings of
five faiths:
"Hurt not others in ways that you yourself would find hurtful" Buddhism.
"What is hateful to you, do not to your fellow man; all the rest is
commentary." Judaism.
"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Christianity.
"No one of you is a believer until he desires for his brother that which
he desires for himself." Islam.
"Blessed is he who preferreth his brother before himself." Baha'i.
Let us take this common thread of spiritual truth which we all share and
weave it into our everyday lives. Happy holy days to all.
