Baha'i faith tour

IT WILL be an inspiring and eye-opening trip for 15 of Papua New Guinea's Baha'i faithful when they travel to Haifa in Israel this month.
They will attend the opening of the Terraces of the Shrine of the Bab, magnificent terraced gardens that stretch from the base to the crest of Mount Carmel. The opening of the Terraces is on May 22.
Mount Carmel is the headquarters to the Baha'i religious movement.
The 15 are mostly villagers and come from Central, Gulf, Oro, Wes-tern, Southern High-lands, Western Highl-ands, Enga, Chimbu, Eastern Highlands, Mor-obe, Madang, East Se-pik, Sandaun, New Irel-and Buka.
They leave for Sydney on May 17 and fly to Haifa. They are due to return on May 25.
Paul Lupai, spokes-man for the pilgrims, said it would be the first time for these representatives to make an overseas trip to the Holy Land and it would be the significant part of their life.
"This is a holy place and everyone wants to go there," he said.
