Baha'Is Event In Israel To Be Telecast Worldwide
The Baha'is' of Greater Portland will join others of their faith worldwide
at 7 p.m. Tuesday watching a live satellite TV broadcast in Gray as the
denomination opens new terraces, formal gardens and fountains that extend
from the port city of Haifa, Israel, to the summit of Mount Carmel.
This twilight ceremony, called a celebration of unity and hope for the human
race, will include a concert of new music at the base of Mount Carmel and
conclude with the lighting of the new terraces. At the heart of the terraces
is the gold-domed shrine of the Bab, one of the most important holy places
for Baha'is.
Anyone interested in attending the broadcast may call Bill Wood at 799-4558
for more information.
