Colombian Singer/Songwriter Leonor Dely Celebrates New CD 'Amame' With a Special One-Night Concert in Los Angeles on June 22 At The Los Angeles Baha'i Center in Baldwin Hills

LOS ANGELES, June 7 /PRNewswire/ -- In the Latin music world, some of the greatest talents have been emerging from Colombia in recent years. Among them is newcomer and budding superstar Leonor Dely who attracted the attention of veteran music producer KC Porter, known for his production work with Carlos Santana, Ricky Martin, Selena among many others. Mr. Porter will present Leonor Dely in her debut Los Angeles performance in support of her new CD at The Los Angeles Baha'i Center in Baldwin Hills on June 22nd at 8:00 p.m.

But in the middle of the Latin pop world, Colombian music and Latin Grammy superstars such as Shakira and Carlos Vives, are making an impact on the US music scene. Porter says he received an email with an MP3 attachment containing a sampling of Leonor Dely's music and immediately fell in love with it. "Her music has some of the most powerful rhythmic diversity I've ever heard, and on top of that, the words she has put to music are breathtakingly inspiring," Porter said. "She's a mix between Cesaria Evora and The Buena Vista Social Club with incredible spiritual depth."

"Amame - Palabras Ocultas de Baha'u'llah," Dely's new CD, is a collection of 20 songs, each with a unique and different Latin rhythm combined with the writings from a book entitled "The Hidden Words" written in the late 1800's by Baha'u'llah, the prophet founder of the Baha'i Faith, a world religion with over 6 million followers throughout the world. Each of the songs is a little gem of its own unique and distinctive Latin rhythm, like landmarks on a musical map of Colombia and the Caribbean, ranging from Afro-Colombian cumbia, porro and currulao to huapango and cueca of the Andes, bambuco and pasillo of the interior, pasaje of the plains; from Afro-Cuban batas, guajira, bolero and pilon to Haitian yanvalou, giving the album a musical diversity as rich as the words contained within it.

The songs showcase not only the talent of Leonor, but also that of the well-known Millero Congo family, some of Colombia's and the Caribbean's most versatile and resourceful percussionists and musicians: Istvan Dely, Hungarian born, Cuban and West African trained jazz percussionist living in Colombia, Shango Dely, renowned percussionist with Colombian superstar Carlos Vives' band (also the album producer) and David Dely, also percussionist and a specialist of the Colombian Native American flutes, as well as other members of the Vives band.
