Holidays

The feast of ALL SAINTS is celebrated by Orthodox Christians beginning at sundown tonight. It is a celebration of the lives of all saints, known and unknown, whose witness to the faith touches the lives of others and who continue, from Heaven, to aid Christian pilgrims by their prayer and example.

For members of the Baha'i faith, today is the anniversary of the MARTYRDOM OF THE BAB, the forerunner of Baha'u'llah. As a result of religious persecution, the Bab and 20,000 of his followers in Persia were killed for their beliefs during the mid-1800s.

For Protestants and Catholics, tomorrow is TRINITY SUNDAY, celebrating the doctrine that within the one and eternal God, there are three divine persons the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit. At sundown tomorrow, Orthodox Christians will begin the FAST OF THE APOSTLES, a vegetarian fast held in preparation for the Feast of the Apostles on June 29.
