New play depicts the Baha'i faith

A new play, "The Marriage of Munirih Khanum," will premiere at 3 p.m. Saturday at Spirit Square's Duke Power Theatre, 345 N. College St. in uptown Charlotte.

The play is about love, faith, and the importance of spiritual values in a marketplace world.

The two-person performance is a collaborative work by Bill George and his daughter, Anisa George, both of Nazareth, Pa. Bill George founded Touchstone Theatre, a professional ensemble theatre in Bethlehem, Pa. Anisa George graduated from Moravian Academy in 2000 and will attend the University of Scotland in Edinburgh in October.

The father-daughter team's play depicts the ill-fated intended marriage to Abdul Baha, the son of Baha'u'llah, the founder of the Baha'i faith.

The play is sponsored by the Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of Charlotte. Tickets are $10 per person.

People

Bradley J. Busiek has been called as the new pastor at Newell Presbyterian Church. He and Amy Nelson of California will be married later this month. They will reside in the Newell/University area.

Busiek is a native of Houston and a graduate of Trinity University. He received his master of divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary in May.

The installation service was July 16.
