Thanksgiving box sign-up ends Friday at Food Bank

The Gallatin Valley Food Bank will provide Thanksgiving dinner boxes to people in need who sign up in person at the Food Bank on or before Friday, Nov. 9.

The Food bank, located at 602 Bond St., is open from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Holiday boxes will be available for pickup between Tuesday, Nov. 13 and Friday, Nov. 16.

Baha’i volunteer will talk about Middle East

Dan Geiger, who recently returned from Israel where he lived for three years, will speak at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov., 9, in the reading room of the Livingston Library, use the side door facing Third Street.

Geiger was in Israel as one of 850 volunteers from more than 100 countries serving at the World Center of the Baha’i Faith. He had extensive contacts with Jews, Muslims and Christians, and wrote about both Israel and the Baha’i Faith during his stay.

Prior to moving to Israel he worked in counseling psychology for 30 years in Montana.

His program will include slides and stories of his observations and experiences. It is sponsored by the Baha’is of Livingston and Bozeman, and the public is invited.

Musical celebration of

mining history Thursday

Bill Rossiter will present “My Sweetheart’s the Mule in the Mine” on Thursday, Nov. 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Bozeman Public Library meeting room.

The program will feature songs and stories that celebrate mining history, from claim jumpers and prospectors to brawls and union battles.

Rossiter has been performing traditional and original music for many years, and taught writing, literature and folklore at Flathead Valley Community College for 25 years.

Team WinS announces winter activities Friday

Team WinS, Women in Sports, is having a potluck open house to announce its winter activities — Nordic cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, skate ski clinic, and more — on Friday, Nov. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Triple Tree Community Center off of Sourdough Road.

Team WinS is Bozeman’s only female multi-sport race team and athletic organization. Team WinS sponsors athletes and holds clinics and outdoor outings for its members. In addition to talking about upcoming events, Team officers will be on hand to recap how the team’s sponsored athletes did this year. Participants are asked, but not required, to bring a dish.

All members or women interested in joining can attend. All ages and skill levels are eligible for membership.

Theme for state parks poster contest announced

The theme for the annual Montana State Parks poster contest will be “Montana State Parks — A Symbol of Freedom, Inspiration and Hope.”

The poster contest, sponsored by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, is an annual event for fifth-grade students.
