Brentwood teens participate in Mayor.s Youth Summit

Two Brentwood teens participated in the Third Annual Mayor.s Youth Summit on March 6. Rishab Jaju and
Kimia Ferdowsi were panelists in the .Exploring World Religions. Worship during the event which was
held March 6 at Gaylord Entertainment Center in Nashville. Jaju represented the Hindu faith while
Ferdowsi represented the Baha.i Faith. Christian, Jewish, Buddhist and Moslem religions were also
represented by other teens.
Nashville Mayor Bill Purcell addressed the 350 students from the Middle Tennessee area, encouraging
them to learn about differences and broaden their horizons by learning about different people in their
neighborhood in his .Embracing Diversity-One City, Many People. speech.
The youth were entertained by several groups including the Kurdish Dance Group, The Village and Club
Caliente. Skits highlighted the need to abolish all forms of social prejudice and focused on the themes
of world religions, racial and ethnic diversity, social and economic diversity, and cross-cultural
communication.
