Celebrating the U.N. at Brenau

GAINESVILLE - Brenau University celebrated U.N. Day Sunday and those who attended were reminded that there are tools to use in conflict
resolution.
Featured speaker Rayetheon Rawls said you create an atmosphere where both sides get their needs met.
Rawls spoke from experience gained with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution's Alternative Dispute Commission and as Vice President
of Resolution Resources Corporation.
U.N. Day was held to promote international awareness and the U.N.'s changing role since its beginning in 1945.
Brenau assistant Professor of International Studies Dovile Budryte said as long as nations spend more money for weapons than peace
keeping,there will be a place for the U.N.
Concerning Iraq, Budryte gave credit to the U.S. for working through the United Nations instead of taking unilateral action against Sadam.
Brenau's U.N. Celebration Day was co-hosted by Baha'i of Hall County.
The voice of South African educator Thozi Nomvete provided musical background for the event with dance peformed by children from the Brenau
International Club Dancers.
