MLK 2003 award nominees sought

Nominees for the 2003 Martin Luther King Jr. Distinguished Achievement Award and the Baha'i Unity of Humanity Award are being sought.

The 2003 Martin Luther King Jr. Commission is inviting members of the community to nominate individuals, regardless of age, who have demonstrated a commitment to human rights, education and nonviolence. Nominations can be submitted through the city of San Antonio's Web site http://www.sanantonio.gov/mlk.

Nominees should exhibit and practice personal beliefs and qualities consistent with those of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the late civil rights leader. The Baha'i Unity of Humanity Award will be presented to an individual who promotes tolerance and brotherhood, shows an understanding and appreciation of other cultures, peacefully resolves conflicts and works toward eliminating prejudice in all forms.

Nomination forms can be printed directly from the city's Web site. All nominations must be postmarked by the deadline date of Dec. 31, 2002, and should be mailed to Martin Luther King Awards Committee, c/o Travis Bishop; P.O. Box 839966; San Antonio, Texas 78283-3966.
