Speaking out for religious diversityNon-Christians set forum tonight
By EYANA ADAH MCMILLAN Dispatch/Sunday News
The Pennsylvania Non-Believers set up a booth at last year's Olde York Street Fair to educate the public about atheism.
Instead, several visitors wanted to talk about something else.
"People came up and tried to preach to us," said Liz Burcin, the group's leader and Pennsylvania state director for American Atheists.
Burcin said she hopes the public will come to understand and accept her views during a forum on "Being Non-Christian in York County" at 7
tonight at York Little Theatre, 27 S. Belmont St., in Spring Garden Township.
The forum is free and open to the public.
Burcin will speak at the forum along with panelists from the Unitarian Universalist, Buddhist, Bahai, Jewish, Muslim and pagan traditions.
"This is just to let people know there are other religions or lack thereof in York County, not just Christianity," Burcin said. "There are
many people who know about other religions, but they're not accepting of this.
