TravelLetters: Pilgrimage notes
Bee Staff Published 2:15 a.m. PDT Sunday, April 27, 2003
Thank you for mentioning the Bahá'í World Centre in Haifa, Israel, in your wonderful article on pilgrimages ("Pilgrims of all faiths seek out
spiritual sites," April 20). It means a lot for the many Bahá'ís in Sacramento to be mentioned, and having made this trip myself a few years
ago, it brought back great memories.
I just wanted to offer one bit of assistance, in the spirit of help. First of all, Bahai is always spelled: Bahá'í. Most importantly, the
spelling of Baha Allah is wrong: His name is spelled Bahá'u'lláh. One would never want to misspell Mohammed, Moses or Christ ... and the same
goes for Bahá'u'lláh.
For those who are interested, there are some amazing pictures of Haifa at the Web site
www.bahaipictures.com/. My non-Bahá'í Israeli friends consider
this place very special as well. Bahá'u'lláh was buried outside of Haifa, and the gardens surrounding his place of rest are equally exquisite,
and are the most holy place in the world for us. ... It is where we turn to pray each day.

Editor's note: The Anglicized spellings used in the April 20 article were taken from Webster's New World College Dictionary, Fourth
Edition, which serves as the basic spelling reference for editors at The Bee.
