Peacefest celebrates respect, diversity in our communities

PeaceFest, Inc. is hosting its annual celebration of diversity in Fond du Lac on Saturday, May 31. Over 20 local choir and music groups will provide the entertainment for this year’s event which runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Buttermilk Creek Park, 753 S. Park Ave.

The public is invited to join in music and celebration under the theme “Together We Sing.” Some of the local choir groups scheduled to perform include India Association Stick Dance performance; FACES show choir and second grade class; Amy Parker from First Presbyterian Church; First Evangelical Lutheran Church Youth Band, Beaver Dam; Erik Neuman, Baha’i Faith, keyboard; Craig Alan and Julie Hagen, vocals and guitars; Joni Foss, soloist; American Indian Mark Sesing, solo acoustical guitar; and Mike Morris and Ishamon Harris, acoustical guitar duet.

Jim Barnes, a former local radio DJ, will MC the event.

PeaceFest’s stated purpose is to promote and assist in activities to improve relations and respect between all people in the Fond du Lac area and to move beyond simple tolerance to embracing and celebrating the rich dimensions of diversity contained in each individual.

Refreshments will be available for purchase including beverages, lunch foods and desserts. T-shirts will be on sale. Those who attend are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs.
