Inspirational music at Macy's Friday

07/02/2003

Celebrate Independence Day with the music of John Cook Friday at 7 p.m. at Macy's European Coffee House, 14 S. Beaver St.

A singer and song writer from St. David, Ariz., Cook reaches people through the heart with his unique blend of inspiring lyrics and melody. His unique style of jazz and blues, with a Mexican flavor, was influenced while living in Mexico as a young man.

His motivation in music came to him as a boy when he read a quote from J.S. Bach: "The aim and final reason of all music is none else than the glory of God."

This special evening of music is hosted by the Baha'i Community of Flagstaff.

Cook has had a life long interest and dedication to serving the Native American people through music.

His song writing is inspired from the experience of suffering and suppression of the Native People and the early Baha'i martyrs in Persia in the middle the last century.
