An even more important question might be, if the portrait in question was that of the Bab, then we would expect that 'Abdu'l-Baha and/or Shoghi Effendi would have verified it as such and held it in great esteem within the Archives. The committee researching this question apparently found no evidence in the BWC Archives to that effect. There is no reason to believe there is any cover-up, as this same group of researchers was very forthcoming on the matter of photos of Baha'u'llah which appear in several books by enemies of the Baha'i Faith.
