Baha'u'llah never claimed to be a Sufi, either as a leader or follower of any particular Sufi group; neither did He ever claim that the Faith that bears His name was a Sufi Order. Rather He indicates in clear tones that His Station is that of a Manifestation of God on par with Muhammad, Christ and Moses, among Others before Him Although baha'u'llah associated with the Naqshbandi Sufis, and influenced them to some degree, He never claimed to be their leader nor a follower.

Often times a Manifestation of God will make statements which in their time seem to many to be contrary to notions of the day or non-factual; nevertheless, as time goes on, They are proven right and the and those who judgfe Them are proven mistaken.

Everyone has free will to judge for themselves these matters, but as Baha'is believe, by definition, Baha'u'llah is correct in everyhting He states, because He is a Manifestation of God.

Baha'u'llah's life, like that of previous Manifestations of God, will continue to be controversial for a time, and a test to those who are unable or unwilling to understand His Station. Most of the world did not know of Christ 109 years after His death, either, and those that did know of Christ and were not believers simply could not bring themselves to an understanding of His Station in those years.
Now that Christ has Returned in the Person of Baha'u'llah, this same spiritual dawn is once again waking first those on the mountain tops, and only after a time will its light spread its splendour in the darker valleys.
