Dear friends,The Wilmette Institute is pleased to announce its first general overview on the Baha'i Faith, its history, and its teachings. We hope to have at least one student from every continent of the globe (maybe even Antarctica)! Given the current intensive media attention to the Baha'i Faith with the opening of the Terraces, and given that a general introduction course like this will be of interest to both Baha'is and non-Baha'is everywhere, we look forward to having another world-embracing community of students. If your non-Baha'i friends or acquaintances ask you about the Faith and seem interested in systematic online study, please direct them to this course..
Below is a brief description of the course. For more information, visit http://wilmetteinstitute.org/intro.html, or to register go to http://wilmetteinstitute.org/applications. If you have any questions about the course or about the Wilmette Institute in general, please contact the registrar, Jonah Winters, at info@wilmetteinstitute.org or phone toll-free 1-877-WILMETTE x1.
TOPIC: The purpose of "The Baha'i Faith: A Comprehensive Introduction" is to offer a study of the Baha'i religion that is thorough, rigorous, and systematic, suitable for both Baha'is and any others wishing a basic overview of the Faith. New Baha'is might desire a chance to explore the religion they have accepted, veteran Baha'is to refresh and deepen their understanding, and non-Baha'is to find out what this Faith is all about. It covers the lives of its founding figures (Baha'u'llah, the Bab, `Abdu'l-Baha, and Shoghi Effendi), the revelation of its major works of scripture, the history and development of the Baha'i community, Baha'i theological teachings, its concept of the spiritual transformation and development of the individual, its conception of Baha'i community life, and its principles for the transformation of human society and civilization.
