Allah'u'Abha,
I know this topic is going to sound a bit corny but it struck me in a way that I couldn't help but ponder the question of it. A good friend of mine and I were talking about religion one night and we were discussing religious laws across the different world religions when he brought to my attention about the 1st Corinthians in the Bible:
11:14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
11:15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
"Ok, so then what about all those pictures of Jesus with long hair?" My friend asked. I then referred to the Kitab-i-Aqdas and found on page 158:
y. Prohibitions:
xxxii. Growth of men's hair beyond the lobe of the ear.
However I then was surprised by this as well since in a couple of pictures Abdu'l-Baha has long hair below the lobes of his ears.
And then I also found this verse in the Qur'an Surih 48:
48:27 Truly did God fulfil the vision for His Apostle: ye shall enter the Sacred Mosque, if God wills, with minds secure, heads shaved, hair cut short, and without fear. For He knew what ye knew not, and He granted, besides this, a speedy victory.
Can anyone here elaborate on this?
Peace, Prayers & Baha'i Love
