In giving reasons for ANYTHING, whether human or divine, we inevitably end up with one of three things: an infinite regress (I believe in God because of the prophets because of the scriptures because of the..etc.), circular argumentation (as above), or an undefended assertion (just because).

Denied logical certainty, we are left with a choice between correspondence, coherence, or pragmatic theories of truth. I like the third option. The scriptures can be applied practically in our lives, therefore they are reliable, the prophets are true messengers, and God exists.
