I thought that Nabil's history covered Baha-Allah's life as well as the Babi and Shaykhi periods. If miracles were the major problem, why didn't Shoghi edit that section as well, instead of just leaving it off? It seems odd for him, a Baha'i, to stop after the Babi movement. That's why I figure there must be something else going on--some crucial problematic view, maybe theological ammunition for one of the covenant-breakers?

In any case I would like to have the miracle stories too. Like your friend has discovered, they tell us something important about the author and text and community, though perhaps not about the ultimate reality.
