I just wanted to start some discussion about this topic. For those who don't know, there is a goal to start work on the Mother Temple of South America, on a 41 acre site located near Santiago, Chile.
I took a course on pre-Colombian art and architecture of central and south America and it was very fascinating. So my only ideas are a strong hope that there can be distinct elements of the design that incorporate the designs, styles, materials, and/or wisdom of the Native cultures in South America.
Some ideas may come from Incan stonework as found in the Qorikancha in Cuzco for example. This would probably be very expensive and difficult, but would be so distinct and so repectful and honorable to the Incan culture.
I think also other spiritual centers can be used as inspirations. For examples the temple and Chavin de Huantar or the Cerro Sechin.
The pre-Colombian textile designs which are symbolic and full of meaning can provide some inspiration.
The spout and bridge or stirrup-spout type of vessel used commonly could be a starting point for possibly a design of a temple using the basic concept/design as the central element in the temple.
The last idea of mine is to incorporate designs such as the Nasca lines around the temple.
I absolutely know nothing about architecture/design, etc. But I just wanted to share some ideas and hopefully stimulate some conversation.
Take care,
