Mike, you think the debate is refreshing? I have managed to maintain a degree of politeness within this debate that suppresses my fury. I was born a Jew, married a Catholic and count among my dear friends Germans and Palestinians. A plague on all houses of terror. All.

If any man or woman thinks there is a "right" or "wrong" whether palestinian murder, israeli murder, arab murder, somalian murder ... ,or a way to view sympathetically any act of murder, especially of innocents, - and if you will recite passages from sacred text that justify this, The Faith has no future, which was always my fear.

Then there is the matter of inter-national bigotry. Canadian Baha'is think they are superior to American Baha'is. Persian-Born Bahai's believe they are superior to non-Persian Baha'is. French Baha'is, like the French in general, feel superior to the whole world. Oh, yes, and "old" Baha'is think they are superior to new Baha'is and can barely manage to control their condescension and ridicule as evidenced in these refreshing posts.

I am told, probably once again wrongly, that Baha'is are not permitted to pick political parties or vote on strictly political issues (exception could be referenda that affect the well-ness of citizens.)

I am told that we are to refrain from political association or political bias. That, as a force of good, we must ascend the Lesser Peace, recognize the Greater Evil and speak no evil of anyone. Wrong again, I suppose, if I understand this cheery series of posts.

I also find it interesting that I am totally alone in this series of posts - which implies that the various pejorative or admirational remarks about specific individuals like Bin Laden or Sharon or Bush are acceptable, at least here.
