I think that you have just cause to fear investigating the '1.7 Million' Bahais in India. This is very much a made up figure and constitutes one of the most blatant falsehoods in the history of religions. This figure is used to boost the Bahais from a few millions into 5-6 Million. Most Bahai statistics are very suspect. You can only rely on the census figures.

There were only 5575 Bahais in India in 1991. These are official figures from the 1991 census of India. Please check the link below
