Stuart, for me there is no doubt that some Baha'is, are repressing some of their ideas, and parts of their personalities, because of the reactions of others. For example "You aren't really a Baha'i if you think . . ." I really think *all* of us are repressing ourselves, some more than others. It will just take time and training for us to grow out of that.
What I'm concerned about here is possible effects on scholarship. I'm confident that there will be people courageous enough to face all the reactions of other Baha'is, if they know that they are not acting contrary to either the spirit or the letter of decisions of the Universal House of Justice. As I've said elsewhere, I don't think that messages of the Universal House of Justice are meant to circumscribe what views may be promoted by Baha'is.
