I was discussing non-religious subjects with the local head of the Freemason society, whom as I said, works in my home. He was aware that one of my olther workers had kept secret an error made in my home. He told me that he was shocked that this had occurred and that as the head of the Masons locally, he might have to expel this worker, who is also a Mason.

This surprised me. He explained that his knowledge of Freemasonry excluded all immoralities, including lying, dishonesty, infidelity, etc ... He agreed that as far as he knew, at his level - third degree - he may be an unwitting participant in a sect which at the higher levels might reveal a different purpose. But, he said, at his level, his only understanding of Freemasonry is that of a highly moral, non-discriminatory, charitable entity. There is no doubt in my mind he was telling the truth.

He also acknowledged that Freemasonry secrecies gave Freemasons a "bad name", regrettably, in his view.

In fairness, I thought this conversation should be included in this thread.

Stuart.
