Dear friends,

Does anyone know of a covenant so great as the one of Baha'u'llah? In previous dispensations, the religion of God has deviated from sect to sect all because the Covenant was not clear as it is today. I was thinking that when Adam chose to eat the forbidden fruit he broke a promise to God and was given the knowledge of good and evil...I think thats it. Anyway, in Christianity, I think the Covenant is alluded to in a saying of Christ, "On this rock I shall build the Church" (please forgive me, I dont know the exact place in the Bible where it says this) basing the Catholic Church on this, Catholism has had Peter to John Paul as its popes. In Islam, Baha'u'llah quotes numerous figures in its history such as the Sufis and poets, Muhammad, the Imams, the Quran itself, all obviously credible enough that the Supreme Manifestion would site from them. I have not come across any sayings or traditions of the Caliphs in Baha'i studies. So, now that the Covenant has been so articulated by the central figures its clear what it is for Baha'is. My research question this time is, has there been a "covenant" from Adam up till now?
After refering to Adib Tahirzadeh's book, "The Covenant of Baha'u'llah" and "The Child of the Covenant", both wonderfully sources of insight and knowledge, I couldn't help but ask myself what were the true forms of the previous dispensations?

Abdul'Baha says in His Will and Testament "And now, one of the greatest and most fundamental principles of the Cause of God is to shun and avoid entirely the Covenant-breakers..." A lesson some Baha'is, including me, learn the hard way. Were there covenant breakers in other religions? I was just wanting some knowledge from the people who would know, Baha'i scholars.

Thank you Jonah and ALL you who contribute for this website, A great place to find answers.
