Your question not stupid.

There are many more products containing alcohol - cough medicines - than Listerine, so your question lacks scope, or should I say "Scope", which is far better in taste than Listerine (less alcohol.)

No-one seeks medical dispensation for over-the-counter mouthwash or cough medicines. I would guess that if a doctor deemed it necessary for your health that you would be permitted to use mouthwash or actually drink alcoholic medicines.

But the simple answer is: no, these are forbidden products. Remember, when you gargle, you actually absorb or swallow some alcohol. Not allowed. Now, it is worse for you since you KNOW there is alcohol in these liquids. There are millions who do not, and some are Baha'i. I hope you "stupid" question helps them to change their habits.

Excellent post!
