I think the book "The Promised Day is Come" might have the quote you are
refering to, see page six. On that page Shoghi Effendi writes,
"Beloved friends! Well nigh a hundred years have elasped since the Revelation
of Baha'u'llah dawned upon the world-a Revelation, the nature of which, as
affirmed by Himself, "none among the Manifestations of old,except to a prescribed
degree, hath ever completely apprehended." For a whole century God has respited

I have heard that the respite was from 1892 but the Guardian seems to point out
that the 100 years, if it is the same 100 years, was from an earlier date maybe
1844. I get this opinion from page 112 of PDC which says, "This great retributive
calmity, for which the world's supreme leaders, both secular and religious,
are to be regarded as primarily answerable, as testified by Baha'u'llah, should
not, if we would correctly appraise it, be regarded solely as a punishment meted
out by God to a world that has, for a hundred years, persisted in its refusal to
embrace the truth.." The PDC was written in 1941, so what does this respite mean
and what is the significance of this 100 years?
