Abstract | A report to the US Secretary of State by W. Smith Murray, who was in charge of the U.S. Consulate in Tihran, on report of the murder of Vice Consel Robert Imbrie in Tihran. |
Notes | On July 18, 1924, American Vice Consul Robert Whitney Imbrie was beaten to death in Tehran. Initially the Bahá'ís were accused as the murderers, but follow-up reports showed the attack to have been the result of a mob uprising. See also New York Times articles, a follow-up report A consideration of the Bahai religion, and a personal interview with a witness to the attack.
This report was researched in the U.S. State Department Records, Near East Affairs Division, by Robert Stauffer. |
