Kitab-i-Aqdas Windows Help File software

by Peyman Talaei

1999
The Kitab-i-Aqdas has been rendered in the Microsoft Windows Help File format. The text has remained identical with the printed version of the book, but it is easier to read and study on the computer than a plain text version of the Kitab. The "Questions and Answers" and "Notes" sections have been hyperlinked throughout the file for easy reference. Also, some photographic images have been incorporated where appropriate.

As with all Windows Help files, topics of particular interest can be bookmarked for quick reference, and personal notes can be added to each topic with the "Annotate" function. Pages can be printed, and text copy/pasted to other applications. On Windows95/98/NT, the help subsystem allows for complex searching of words, or groups of words, in the Help file to further aid in research (see below).

This project was created with RoboHelp authoring software. The downloadable file is a self-extracting Windows executable. After downloading it simply double click on it to start the installation process.

The Kitab-I-Aqdas Windows Help File (V 1.7) Installation Notes

1.

Minimum requirements: Windows 3.1, 386SX, 4MB RAM, 4.3 MB hard disk space on C: drive, 16 Color VGA Display System

2.

Although best viewed at 800 X 600 resolution, at 640 X 480 resolution, some photographic images may be clipped (Note: text is never clipped). The photographs have been optimized for viewing on 16 color display systems (the lowest common Windows standard), and may appear "grainy" on better display systems. Be sure to maximize the Help Window by clicking on its maximize button on the top right of the window.

3.

If you are unfamiliar with Windows Help Files and how to use them, consult your Windows User's Guide. Briefly:

  • any green text is a "Hyper-Link" which when clicked by the left mouse button, will jump to another topic (when the cursor is on a hyper-link, it will change from an arrow to a hand symbol)

  • To go forward one page, press the ">>" button, to go backward one page, press the "<<" button. You can always get back to the Table of Contents by clicking on the "Contents" button. Also, by clicking on the Search button, you can specify a page to go to directly.

  • If a vertical scroll bar appears on the right side of the window, you will have to scroll down to see the bottom of the page.
4.

Under Windows 95/98 and Windows NT, the Help subsystem provides built-in enhanced searching capabilities. Click on the "Search" button, then click on the "Find" tab in the Search Dialog and follow the directions. After the index has been built, you can perform complex searches on the text of the Kitab-I-Aqdas Help File.

5.

The text of the book used in this Windows Help file has come directly from the text file (KA.FN) of the Kitab-i-Aqdas provided freely by the Bahá'í World Center's Internet World Wide Web page. In some instances, the presentation of the text has changed to make it match, as closely as possible, the original printed version of the Kitab-i-Aqdas (i.e. bolding, italicizing, diacritics, etc...) but the content has not changed. Also changed is the placement of some paragraph marks. This is to allow the user to stretch the Help window and allow the text to flow into the new window size.

6.

All photographic images have a credit line below them with the source of the photo identified.

7.

If you find, as you are browsing this help file, any discrepancies between it and the printed version of the Kitab-I-Aqdas, please eMail as much detail about it to: Peyman Talaei, peyman@technologist.com

8.

If you installed this from the installation disk or downloaded the file from the Internet, please feel free to copy and distribute either the installation diskette or the downloaded file.
