Bahá’í Council for
England
The Bahá’í Council for England
sends its love and warmest greetings to every
Bahá’í in the country and wishes all a very
happy Ridván.
We would like to share briefly some of the
responses we have received from the children and junior youth who
have been at the heart of the 12 Month Plan. We prepared a special
calendar for them with specific goals and opportunities for
dialogue with, and feedback from, the Council. We sincerely hope
that we managed to some extent to convey the love and concern that
the institutions feel for our children and junior youth.
The communications received have been
heart-warming and encouraging. Many children and junior youth have
sent their completed calendars directly to the Council. In most of
these cases they have reported on their progress or have informed
us of activities that have taken place in response to the Twelve
Month Plan. A number have reported that by repeatedly saying the
prayer for parents they have now memorised it. Others, through
deciding on their hero/heroine, have vigorously begun studying the
history of the Faith and the stories of the early believers.
A nine year old wrote: "Thank you for sending us
this Twelve Month Plan for the children. I tried to pray for my
parents and friends. I read some Bahá’í stories
every night. My hero was Mullá Husayn because he called on
the power of God all the time and I would like to call on the power
of God. "
An eight year old has written saying: "Me and my
Twelve Month Plan are going really well and its mostly ticks! I
have learned loads of hidden words and prayers"
From a fifteen year old: "I have read about
Huqúqulláh a bit. I have given to the Fund. I am
doing fine, no problems."
An eleven year old said: "Thank you for
remembering me in your prayers and sending me the Twelve Month
Plan. I have tried to say my prayers every night and morning. I
have learnt the short Obligatory Prayer by heart and I am aiming to
learn the medium Obligatory Prayer. I have been reading "Release
The Sun" every night. I have learnt a lot about
Bahá’í History. I have chosen my hero to be
Badi because he changed from being a normal person to a very good
Bahá’í and I would like to be the same."
A seventeen year old plus three junior youth and a
child of ten have written to us reporting on their services to
their town. They have hired a venue where they offer devotional
meetings to all people once a month. Their activities have
attracted the attention of the local newspaper, which conducted an
interview with them. Their Assembly is conducting regular classes
in which they study "The Dawn Breakers".
They report that they have already memorised two
prayers and have started to memorise the Long Obligatory
Prayer.
They ask us to wish them luck.
Of course, we wish them luck as we do all our
youngsters. They will of course remain at the heart of the Five
Year Plan which we have been busy formulating over the past few
months.
