The Active Force and That Which Is Its Recipient:
A Bahá'í View of Creativity

by Rick Johnson

published in Journal of Bahá'í Studies, 27:4, pages 29-53
Ottawa: Association for Bahá'í Studies North America, 2017
About: Applying a framework for understanding the creative process generally, this essay explores the notion that the universe is coded to be creative. The view is offered that the universal system exists in a perpetually poised, generative, dynamic state and that creativity is the fundamental reality of the universe. Utilizing the concept of “covenant” as a metaphor for the governance structure of the universal generative dynamic, the author investigates the unique role of consciousness in the creative process.
